Afgelopen weekend deden we 6 wedstrijden in 44 uur met onder andere een bezoek aan drie clubs in voormalige mijnwerkersdorpjes, een interview met de befaamde groundhopper @puffpuff65 en een heerlijke Dundee Derby. Vincken was voor even niet lijden.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Nieuwe Staantribune Podcast online‼️ Sinds 2021 organiseert Groundhop UK een speciaal #Groundhopweekend in Schotland. Op verzoek van deze groep verschuiven clubs hun wedstrijden, zodat de groundhoppers er zoveel mogelijk kunnen zien in een weekend. Het weekend is normaliter in maart en verloopt volgens een vast stramien: een wedstrijd op vrijdagavond, vier duels op zaterdag en ten slotte nog eentje op de vroege zondagmiddag. Dit jaar was Staantribune erbij. De bangige huismus @JIH1980 deed een no-show, maar @doingthe116 en @GJ_itis durfden het wel aan, al gingen ze op vrijdag en zondag hun eigen weg. Zij zagen onder meer een legendarische Dundee Derby. Op zaterdag waren ze getuige van een mooi rariteitenkabinet, ontmoeten de mannen groundhopheld Puff Puff en vinckten zij drie opvallend leuke wedstrijden. De vierde op zaterdag was echter een brug te ver. Volgend jaar een nieuwe poging. Zal Wibi dan wel durven? £30 cap on away tickets to continue for two more seasons, excellent news for supporters and for broadcasters wanting noisier atmospheres. Kudos to the Premier League for agreeing to extension. Fans now want clubs to listen to them over home ticket prices which “are often unaffordable and pricing out loyal fans”. "The extension of the away cap is great news for travelling top-flight fans,” says Tom Greatrex, chair of the Football Supporters' Association. “The cap was an FSA idea which wouldn't have happened without our members' campaign work. Credit to the Premier League and clubs for listening to supporters on the importance of away supporters and keeping the cap in place for the previous 12 seasons. Long may it continue. "We all know how much away fans add to the atmosphere in our stadiums and anything which helps them is welcome. Over the past 12 years this has saved supporters millions of pounds in total. We'd also encourage owners to listen to the voices of supporters' groups at their clubs who are telling them that home ticket prices are often unaffordable and are pricing out loyal fans."

It will be wild if Hearts win the Premiership, given we've not had a winner outside Glasgow in over 40 years. It will be wild if Rangers win the Premiership, given they only won 1 of their opening 7 games of the season and they have only won 53% of their league games to date with just 8 left to play. It will be wild if Celtic win the Premiership, given they've lost 7 times already this season, have changed manager 3 times, and had two utter clusterfuck transfer windows. It will be wild if Celtic land the double, given all of the above and the fact they won a quarter final despite not registering a single shot on target. It will be wild if St.Mirren win a major trophy, or even two, but still manage to get themselves relegated. It will be wild that Steven Pressley has outlasted the manager of Celtic (twice), Rangers, Aberdeen, St.Mirren, Kilmarnock and Livingston this season. It's wild that with 8 games to play Motherwell have the best defensive record in the Premiership and have lost the same number of games as the league leaders. It's wild that 3 of Hearts 5 defeats this season have come against the teams currently sitting 9th, 10th and 11th in the league. It's wild that Livingston won their 2nd game of the season and in the middle of March, 28 games later, they are still waiting on their next victory. It's Scottish football. And it is indeed, wild.
