Claiming that "this waterway is a global public good" requires facing two questions: First, where was the EU when this "global public good" was available to everyone except Iran—a coastal country on the Strait of Hormuz? For years, Iran’s oil and trade were disrupted by the Americans through their unilateral and illegal maximum sanctions. Yet, Iran exercised self-restraint for decades; the EU noticed this but did not bother to reiterate that the Strait of Hormuz is a "global public good." Second, the flow is constrained by the aggression of the American and Israeli regimes, why then tout the EU’s Aspides naval mission instead of stopping the aggression itself?

Recently, while visiting @kizzabesigye1 at Luzira Prison, I met Eddie Mutwe with his wife Rhonah and their four young children. The children ran around him, laughing, holding on to every moment. I had to steady myself, hiding my tears so they wouldn’t see. This is the human cost of injustice that @MordecaiMuriisa reminds us of.

Just a gentle reminder: Eddy Mutwe is someone’s child, someone’s husband, and my friend. He is a human being with rights, with feelings, with dreams and ambitions. When you feel compelled to defend those you care about from any ‘attacks’ because they are someone’s child, spouse, or loved one, pause and reflect. Did those who tormented Eddy Mutwe consider any of this? Did his humanity matter to them? Did anyone stand by and question what was being done to him? If that reflection doesn’t teach us something about empathy, accountability, and consistency, then perhaps nothing will.

Multiple attacks on health have been reported in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in recent days amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East. The Pasteur Institute in Iran sustained significant damage and was rendered unable to continue delivering health services. The Institute was established in 1920 and has been operating for over a century in multiple areas of medical research. It plays an important role in protecting and promoting population health, including in emergencies. Two of its departments have been working with @WHO as collaborating centres. In addition, the Delaram Sina Psychiatric Hospital sustained significant damage due to a strike on 29 March, and the Tofigh Daru pharmaceutical facility, which produced medicines for treating cancer and multiple sclerosis, was damaged in another attack on 31 March. No casualties were reported from these incidents. Since 1 March, WHO has verified over 20 attacks on health care in Iran, resulting in at least nine deaths, including that of an infectious diseases health worker and a member of the Iranian Red Crescent Society. Attacks on health have also been recorded outside Tehran, including on 21 March, when an explosion nearby Imam Ali Hospital in Andimeshk, Khuzestan province, led to the facility’s evacuation and cessation of services. The conflict in Iran, and the region, is impacting the delivery of health services and the safety of health workers, patients, and civilians present at health facilities. Peace is the best medicine.

Last evening, I witnessed a scene at Jinja Rd traffic junction. A prisons’ bus, escorted by 3 double cabins full of policemen; with sirens, drove from K’la Rd at chetah speed even when there was hardly passage through the traffic!
What baffled me is how the policemen; with rage, FLOGGED EVERY ROAD USER IN THEIR SIGHT with electric cables as a way of shoving them to create way! People fell off boda bodas and I believe others went with bruises!
