You’re out here slamming Patrick Dorgu, a 20-year-old kid with just 8 appearances for Manchester United, calling him a “really poor signing”? Are you serious? This is a young player who’s barely had time to unpack his bags since joining in January, and he’s already being thrown into the fire of one of the toughest leagues in the world, playing for a Manchester United side that’s been a complete mess this season. And you have the audacity to write him off already? That’s not just harsh, it’s downright ridiculous.
Let’s break this down. Dorgu’s been at the club for four months, moved from Italy to England, and is adapting to a new system under a new manager, Ruben Amorim, who’s still figuring things out himself. The kid’s played in a struggling team that’s lacked form all season, yet he’s still shown flashes of potential, as many fans have pointed out. He’s been better going forward than most of United’s flank players in years, and he’s doing this at 20 years old! But you, with all your supposed experience, can’t see that? Instead, you’re out here trashing him and the club’s recruitment like you’ve got some high ground to stand on. Please.
Since you’re so quick to judge, why don’t you share your own stats from when you were 20, Lianne? Let’s see how you were performing as a professional player at that age, how many appearances, goals, assists, or big games did you have under your belt? Were you lighting up the Women’s Super League, or were you still figuring things out like most young players do? I bet you weren’t getting torn apart by former pros for not being the “finished article” after a handful of games. The hypocrisy is staggering.
It’s honestly embarrassing to see an ex-player like you, who should be advocating for the growth and development of young talent, come out with such a lazy, snide take. Dorgu’s got time to grow, and he’s already shown more promise than plenty of United’s past signings. Maybe instead of slandering a kid who’s just starting out, you should reflect on how you’d feel if someone had judged your career so harshly at 20. Do better, Lianne, this is a pathetic look for you.
