Our Colts made our media teacher Ms. Straus so proud today…our students were buddy reading after book checkout and two students wanted to read aloud to their friends on the bean bags without being prompted! Proud moment-GO COLTS!!I

We are celebrating back-to-back wins at Columbus East as our boys take home the 1st place trophy the day after our girls did! Way to go COLTS! We are proud of you!

Congratulations goes out to our lady Colts 6th grade basketball team for bringing home the first place trophy from the Unity basketball tournament! Our Colts played with grit and never gave up and we are so proud of them!

Our musical COLTS did an amazing job at our Winter Concert as they drew a standing room only crowd. There were many smiling faces in the audience.

A big thank you goes out to Rocio Ramirez and her family for decorating our Columbus East tree at the Community Center! Thanks to all of the families who helped make our gingerbread ornaments!

Thank you to Ms Rea and our Student Council for presenting stress reducing strategies to our COLTS. After the opening circle participants were able to join a painting party, have rock, paper, scissors relays and juggled with scarves at our annual Student Support Session.

In November, 82% of our COLTS showed growth in their lexiles in ACHIEVE3000. The following students grew the most in their grade. Andrea Silva Daza in 209 grew 280 lexiles. Sky Matoras in 204 grew 185 lexiles. Ketzaly Leyva grew 100 lexiles. Great job ladies!

Hard work pays off at Columbus East School-we had 238 out of 369 (65%) of our COLTS meet the criteria for our November iReady incentive. Rooms 107, 211 and 212 had 100% of their students meet this goal. Our COLTS loved playing board games in the gym as their reward!

A big thank you goes out to Ms. Manley, Ms. Ramirez and Ms. Williams-Ruiz for guiding our COLT families during our Ornament Decorating Activity. Thank you to those who came out to join in the fun!

Our COLTS recycled 1.95 pounds of their trick-or-treat wrappers and were recognized by Rubicon for their contribution to Trash or Treasure. Way to go COLTS!

Congratulations goes out to our Colts who showed the highest Lexile growth at their grade level in ACHIEVE in October. Jayden grew 125 lexiles, Cesar grew 185 lexiles and Libni grew 85 lexiles! Room 211 also gets a shoutout for reading and achieving and making us proud!

Our COLTS rocked student led conferences. Parents were impressed at the ownership their children took as they shared their personal data, goals and challenges. Way to go COLTS-your teachers prepared you well!

Congratulations goes out to our 6th grade boys’ soccer team for coming in 1st place in the Unity tournament! Way to show your grit, work as a team and never give up! We are proud of you!
