@Tpack5 The more talented guys “get away with it” more than it helps them. Again, totally “my personal view point. Arod “patted” the glove every time and he has lots of $ and J-Lo. So I’m probably totally wrong! I love being an infielder too.

@donsdominate As coaches it’s our job to teach them how to do it propertly. Just like guys that hit with a leg kick, you teach them how to be on time with it. I believe it’s more damaging to take away something that gives them rhythm and comfort.

Early in my coaching career I taught INFer to eliminate the 🧤 pat before fielding the ⚾️ . My logic was to much movement. I have since learned that some INFers need it to create rhythm to be “on-time”. Coaches learn and adapt! What works for ☝️ person might not work for another

@Tpack5 Lots of great stuff on here. I agree what works for one doesn’t work for another, but I had an outfielder who was hit in the head with a flyball, late getting his glove up after “patting” it. (just me personally) I think the “pat” is a flaw in fielding that can only hurt.
