Tonight, I spoke with a married couple expecting their first child. They were attending a community ante-natal training course. At the training, a ‘non-binary’ parent-to-be, who made a point of announcing ‘they/them’ pronouns to the group, was tasked by the course leader to create the WhatsApp groups for the expectant mothers and fathers to communicate with each other outside of sessions. When the married couple received the WhatsApp invitations, they saw that the group for the mothers-to-be had been named ‘birthing parents’ by the non-binary attendee. Nobody, not even the trainer, dared to challenge this. The married couple I spoke to feel that they are being forced to go along with someone else’s dictatorial ideology or risk being labelled bigots. This is the poison that is gender ideology.
