North Macedonia are now awaiting the birth of their left back's first child so they can bring the youngster on for a few minutes as their final substitute of the evening

Seamus Coleman is a class act and his assessment of the game in that interview was absolutely on point

Arsenal came unstuck in the second half due in no small part to the City keeping the ball in play

Chelsea's recent huddle nonsense has been arrogant arseholery. Forming the huddle around the referee though is the height of arrogant disrespect. Suggesting the referee was in the wrong is bizarre. If they subsequently suffered from harsh decisions then I've no sympathy

Widespread cancellation of underage fixtures again this week highlights once more the long term problem - a lack of astro pitches. Meanwhile there is an outdoor & an indoor astro pitch in Sport Ireland plus 4 grass pitches lying idle

For all the talk of Donnarumma being the top keeper City need to win the PL/CL I think he could just as easily cost them. Makes big saves in big moments which is a fair basis for the above view but despite his size he's also a disaster with high balls/crosses

Both very good players but the metrics used, all out of possession, reflect what is valued in the UK & Ireland. Commonly used terms reflect it too - midfield battle, "go to war", "in the trenches" (© R. Keane). How many of these metrics would Vitinha or Pedri match up in?

@umirf1 No need to justify what was a very interesting, thought provoking & well articulated question. It's refreshing to hear these questions & the response rather than some nonsense about transfer speculation or a rhetorical question asking if he was pleased with a win/good performance

Just to clarify a few misconceptions and highlight some interesting things I’ve seen re: journalism. My question was admittedly long but journalists typically ask three or four questions which when added up are of an equal-ish time to mine. I deliberately chose to ask one detailed question instead. I mentioned the 2006 columns as I wanted to see if 1) his opinion had changed 20 years on and 2) how he deals with that as a coach now rather than an analyst or writer. His answers provided inference to both even if he didn’t explicitly say so, which is helpful for my work going forward. And lastly, I asked that question as I am working on a piece around those ideas. The quotes feed into the article. The article is the end product. Getting more information from an interviewee is probably the aim when the interview is the end product. Getting new information relevant to the article is the aim when the article is the end product. Everyone entitled to an opinion on someone’s journalist approach. As someone with a big passion for football especially tactically, I’m enjoying trying new things and I’m happy with how it’s gone so far whilst always trying to improve with guidance from the best. Excited to share my piece next week so stay tuned.

Pundits highlighting decisions VAR would have corrected is how we ended up with it in the first place. Alan Shearer highlighting what should have been the solution - demanding higher standards from officials rather than justifying every poor decision with an asterisk on a "law"

@TacticalEyeLOI Lovely footballer. Excellent off either foot, lovely effortless/smooth style & sees the game really clearly. Dare I say Chris Forrester like style wise & having been fortunate to work with him, IMO definitely better suited in a deeper role. Still very early but a big talent

Really poor from Keane. Apart from the chip on the shoulder over who knows what, on what basis is he making such a statement? Never worked with him on the pitch or in media. Maybe he can prove himself to Roy by talking about "going to war" etc the42.ie/6941650

Michael Carrick's full-time prospects should be judged on his ability to do the job & on how he/the team performs over the next 5 months - not giddily after 2 wins but also not dismissed before then purely on the basis of his Middlesbrough career or not being a "big name"

Only saw the last 30mins but by all accounts Lisandro Martinez dealt with Haaland really well yesterday. Easy to say after the event but it's not a one-off. Much said about his size but Martinez did the same at Ajax (alongside Jurrien Timber at CB) when Haaland was with Dortmund

As Josh Acheampong shoots wide the MOTD commentator remarks he was looking for the first goal "in his ENTIRE career" For context Acheampong is a 19 year old centre back whose entire career consists of a grand total of 13 senior appearances
