I explain why populism is bad: it's another form of identity politics. "Liberalism at least in theory,,,tries to get away from that. Populism completely embraces it." Tribalism is universal, but the people who make it a virtue are much worse than those who fight against it.
One of the more interesting things I learned about Haley and what I came to loathe about Abdul is that she is not transactional with the community and those leaders she has connected with throughout her career. She dedicates an enormous amount of time to communicate regularly and directly with people who most politicians ignore once elected. I’ve heard so many compliments to this when I worked for Abdul. It’s a concern of those connections and that outreach that Abdul was surprised to hear and envious of, largely as he operates more like Frank Underwood. She however, is an exceptional relationship manager, and we will all see that soon in Detroit especially with black voters. Haley doesn’t need to win this website or run to be in front of every camera to win.
