Lost in that crazy finish is that Berke was absolutely huge on the offensive end. Went 5/6 from the field.
I'll forgive the missed FT, since he picked a great time to hit his shots.
And shoutout to two longtime warriors with the @HuskerMBB program, @LeftyShamus & @tapnorris . You’ve seen a lot of rough basketball over the years, but you kept the faith. Enjoy this boys. And then get back to work. You got another weekend to go, at least.

@TheSavBananas I signed up for the Lincoln, NE lottery and never got an email, as others have already, about getting tickets or not. I’ve checked junk mail. I have my submission ID. Can I get some help on my status?
Peacock gets a top five matchup and put in a JV broadcast team. That was real bad. Nik Stauskas sounded like he came in off the street…oh and he’s a former Michigan player which wouldn’t usually matter if he actually sounded remotely interested and prepared. That game deserved much better.
The officiating is a completely different matter.
@tony_chapman76@livelincolnadam Your comment on second and third graders is dead on for both girls and boys. I also vote no pressing until sixth grade. These young kids can’t even run an offense bc they’re just trying to get the ball to the other side of the half court line.
Coached a lot of youth girls hoops this month. Really watching the concerning trends of participation in our state.
Have a lot of thoughts on “the model” and why girls are quitting.
- No need for second or third grade basketball GAMES. Skill development? Yes. 3-on-3 leagues? Awesome.
- In youth volleyball, guess who refs the games? The other players and coaches. Police themselves. In basketball, girls get knocked over for 5-6 years and decide it’s not worth it in high school. I get it.
- More players would play if we played FEWER GAMES that were better officiated. Just a hunch. “Hey mom, that was fun, I didn’t spend the whole game on the ground.”
- I KNOW we have an officials shortage. But we have to SHUT UP at games at the JV and high school varsity level. Only makes it worse. On the other side….
- JV officials if you are getting paid, call the first HAND CHECK. Just don’t allow it. Then girls won’t get knocked over for 32 minutes and you’ll get a breather while they shoot free throws. I have seen way too many gruesome injures at the JV level the last few years.
- Coaches!! I get the game has turned physical because of the whistle. But we can teach our kids to play without fouling!! I watched Bennington and Norris (on my TV, sadly) on Friday. Same for Elkhorn Valley and Central City. You can play GREAT defense without fouling. Promise.
Ok. That’s enough. If you are playing in a conference tournament this week go have fun. Cut a dang net down. I hope I can watch your team soon.

@brittanyyyy_11@NCAAVolleyball I do believe they missed an amazing opportunity for the sport and for the city of Kansas City. That arena would have been on fire last night if NE would have made it. I get it, they didn’t win. But if we woulda had Purdue as the match the get there, it woulda been easier.
Everyone should be mad at the @NCAAVolleyball selection committee. You got some of the best volleyball in the tournament last weekend because of the storylines and now this level is boring. TAMU should have A) never been a 3 seed and B) shouldn’t have been in NE bracket.
@izzypinedaa I actually thought since it was used in the tournament at the start of the season, it would be used at the Final Four. It’s almost a need at this level.
opinions on the concept of the NCAA forming a contract with a Bolt6/Hawkeye system for National Semifinal/Final matches????
idk i think it could be really cool
