Well, I thoroughly enjoyed day 1 of #dotdotastro, our attempt to take #dotastro's mercurial blend of discussion and thought online. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Yay! I had an awesome first day at #dotdotAstro/@dotastronomy! It's my first conference with "unconference" sessions and they're such an amazing way to further discussions from talks and make everything more interactive.

Day One of #dotdotastro is complete! The format lends itself quite well to the online world, and I'm happy that the changes we've made make it better than just an online version. Day two is in two days. Day three is in 9 days. Simple!

This is driving me insane. Absolutely mad.

...and you can absolutely blame @chrislintott for the name. Even though @orbitingfrog admits it's growing on him

@shareastronomy We were already hearing up for #dotdotastro this August - see dotastronomy.com/alpha. We still want to gather at ESAC in person for #dotastro 12 if we possibly can, so postponing made sense.

@dotastronomy Why no online event?

We've made the decision to postpone #dotastro 12 by around six months, to Spring 2021 😞

And of course we were already planning our #dotdotastro online-only event for August: dotastronomy.com/alpha - which will obviously continue

We have emailed everyone who expressed interest in taking part, and we will pick up the process once new dates are secured.

This wasn't an easy decision, but I'm sure you'll not be surprised. We have spoken with the lovely folks at ESAC and they are confident that we can find new dates for next year.

In August, we're trying something different: a totally online event. We want to see if we can replicate #dotastro but online: dotastronomy.com/alpha

Working with @TheNStarman, we built a #dotAstro outreach program geared toward rural teens (often predisposed to working with their hands) to look at Galactic structure (and the underlying dark matter distribution) through home demo and renovation.
