NEW‼️: New Mexico has launched a first-of-its-kind legislative “truth commission” to probe Jeffrey Epstein’s ties to powerful state Democrats and potential institutional failures allowing abuse at his Zorro Ranch near Stanley. Police searched the ranch for the first time earlier this month, seeking evidence of alleged child sex trafficking and abuse there, as claimed by victims and supported by 2020 state AG letters and recent DOJ documents. Epstein bought the 7,500-acre property in 1993 from former Gov. Bruce King’s family (including son Gary King) for ~$3.75 million. He donated over $160,000 to NM campaigns (2002–2014), often as the top outside donor—even after his 2008 Florida sex offender conviction. Ties included former Gov. Bill Richardson and ex-AG Gary King, who met Epstein in 2010, accepted a $15,000 donation in 2006 (pre-awareness of issues), and returned a $35,600 2014 donation after media scrutiny. Epstein also arranged a paid campaign flight for King in 2014. King denied visiting the ranch, accepting post-conviction donations knowingly, or knowing of crimes; he said no Epstein-related reports reached his office during his AG tenure (2007–2015). An FBI visit to the ranch occurred in 2007, but no federal probe details were shared with state officials. Federal authorities halted a 2019 state trafficking probe without searching the ranch (sold in 2023). No local police records show related complaints. AG Raul Torrez reopened the investigation in February 2026. reuters.com/world/us/new-m…
