Great works as always. The opening scene with Marc bandaging Mari has a tenderness to it I really like. It's arguable if Marc is a good person, but I think the scene does a good job at showing how empathetic he is.

@vldivstk I understand what you mean. I did like the first version, but this one felt like it had a better flow to it, and a more coherent idea of what the flashback was trying to establish. Although that might in part be because of the flashback started and ended in the same chapter.

@doubledomain My main gripe with the last version of the chapter was that it felt a lot like an unfinished draft. I hoped this one was much more direct with what it wanted to do.

It's probably the best chapter so far. The first half is obviously very similar to the first version, but the changes are all very pleasant. I really like Cornelius and the chess club, I think they really help ground Mari in the town by there being people she kind of likes.-
