Joshua Kern (@joshhkernn) and Dov Jacobs (@dovjacobs), instructed by the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists (@ijl_jewish), submit amicus curiae Brief Regarding the ICC's Prosecutor’s Request to Issue Arrest Warrants for Israeli Leaders The IJL raises two main concerns: (1) The arrest warrant requests cannot be considered under the scope of the “situation in Palestine” . The requests relate to events that occurred after the investigation was opened (March 2021) and arise from a fundamentally different factual context triggered by the attacks committed by Hamas on Israeli territory on 7 October 2023. (2) Any argued Palestinian capacity to delegate the exercise of criminal jurisdiction to the ICC does not currently enable the Court to exercise jurisdiction over Israelis. @EbrightYon it is interesting to point out that this trend is due to the increased place of HR rights discourse in public discourse to denounce certain conducts... it can't be that lawyers can talk when they conclude that there are HR violations, but not ok when they don't...

@EbrightYon I get your point of course, but if there is a problem, it is not with the lawyers themselves, but exactly the one you identify: that too much importance might be given to the importance of legal determinations in the public discourse.

I respect ur feeling, but you’re basically ashamed of lawyers doing their job. i’m wondering how this is not an indictment of the legal profession as a whole, int’l or otherwise, bc many situations might trigger outrage that would justifiy not involving lawyers, according to you.
