Got denied for a job because I didn't have a degree that doesn't exist I recently applied for a job as a makerspace coordinator. Makerspaces have only become really popular over the past 5 years and I had previous experience helping to open one in my state so I thought for sure I would get this job. Nope one of the requirements is a masters degree in Makerspace Management...that doesn't exist. I searched the internet, called local colleges, the closest I can find is a certificate program for crafters. The AI filtered me out because of my lack of makerspace related degree 😒

I want to quit my job but I don’t have a backup yet. So my friend that we work same role different company is receiving 500k salary while my company is paying me 350k Meanwhile this my company is bigger than hers and their total revenue and income is bigger than my friend’s company so I think I’m being cheated so I want to resign. I work longer hours, hybrid but it includes weekends. The most annoying part was I proposed a 500k salary from the onset but they were like they’ll start from 350 and later increase it. I actually thought they were trying but now I can see that they’re ripping me 😭

a part of the college experience is graduating into a job market where the jobs in your field don’t exist anymore

@OrevaZSN that shift says a lot about how things have changed my parents bought a house with one income, now it takes two just to make rent.

1970s: “If I work enough hours, I can buy a house.” 2026: “If I work enough jobs, I can probably afford food and rent.”

@zachmelloh26 i'd also look at cutting expenses that don't really add to my life like subscriptions or habits that are just out of routine.

sometimes the next level of your career isn’t a promotion, it’s the courage to pivot.

@ConsoomerLs seen that firsthand with some job postings they use all this corporate speak but the job is just data entry or something.

No one wastes more time than HR.

@raixdaily i had a similar experience. started working young and it taught me a lot about responsibility but i also know people who've been struggling to find decent jobs and it's not always that simple

I had my first job before i had my drivers license. So forgive me if i struggle to understand grown adults who refuse to work & expect handouts 🗣️ 💯

@1ssve seen that play out so many times companies think more rounds mean they're being thorough but really they're just wasting everyone's time

If the job isn't a CEO..CFO..COO..or any C-suite/SE position...there's absolutely no reason for three rounds of interviews.

Can we separate being good at interview and good at the job please? I’m good at my job but I interview like a boiled potato.

What is so wrong with resume gaps? Are people not allowed to not work???

@OrevaZSN had a friend who got hit with a medical bill and had to choose between paying that or rent that's not a financial literacy problem.

People often say that being unable to survive 8 weeks without income means we need more financial literacy. So here you go: our system is designed to concentrate wealth and keep most workers one emergency away from financial collapse. There, you are now financially literate.

@realmfberlin i had an interview once where they asked me to tell a story about a time i overcame a challenge and i just made something up on the spot. they totally bought it.

the most performative part of job searching is sitting in an interview and explaining your deep passion for a company you genuinely did not know existed until you saw the listing three days ago.
