@BreastCancerNow @KarenMillen The link between breastfeeding and breast cancer risk reduction is proven, nevermind the known benefits to baby of BF beyond 6 months. UK BF rates are abysmal and Karen's uninformed commentary is unhelpful

Morning! The Government response on the DDRB will be out very soon. Private sector pay is rising at roughly 6%. Inflation (RPI) is 3.2%. Here’s a table of how long pay restoration would take depending on pay increase given. 1/2

Economists: people don't understand marginal tax. If your tax rate increases above £100,000, you don't suddenly lose money when you earn £100,001 UK tax system: hold my beer

BREAKING: After a ten-month battle our @FactCheck team has obtained NHS data revealing 1 in 3 of England's hospitals are missing at least 10% of their planned-for nurses across their wards.

@soniasodha Thankyou for your comment about the impact of covid restrictions on children and young people. That pubs were ever open when schools were closed shames our country. We sold months of children's childhoods.

🚨We’ve heard that doctors affected by the MRCP error are being told they will not be able to progress their HST applications. Urgent advice: do not withdraw any application & continue applying if you are affected. If you are prevented from applying keep emails and screenshots.

@chelseajade7426 I'm not sure screaming at someone's child is the best way to teach them that hitting is unacceptable. An already dysregulated child is unlikely to be receptive to that sort of intervention. Better to let the parent that knows the child intervene

I don’t know if I’m looking at this in a completely wrong way, but surely children need to be taught that hitting others is bad regardless? And there are consequences? Surely if we raise kids allowing them to hit others because of SEN it could cause big issues in the future?

Saw something on instagram. Woman with autistic son takes her son to soft play, son is overwhelmed by noise a little girl is making and hits little girl. Little girl’s parent screams at little boy. Little boy’s mum is on instagram going off on one about how unacceptable that is

Called out NHSE’s narrative that it’s possible to provide safe care in corridors. Used strong language putting our statement together, reflecting @RCollEM members’ and colleagues’ strength of feeling on this matter. Degree to which corridor care is normalised is dumbfounding

@dr_emmacoombe It is a tough one - I have been here 20 years and its the closest I have come to thinking about leaving - but my life is here. Any move - even back to Wales would be a total reset.

Getting on the property ladder as someone single and without parental backing is a nightmare, particularly in London. Does anyone have experience with 5% deposit mortgages? Appreciate the rates higher, but I'm currently dumping £1.8k on rent per month.

@Neuro_Matt I have over 5% but less than 10 and though the mortgages are higher rates, I'm already spaffing £1850 on rent so I just think I should just go for it. Crazy though that 425k-450 = one bed in zone 2.

My kids are lucky their dad has taken shared parental leave after both their births. "A government review from 2023, suggests almost half of all dads weren't even aware shared parental leave was an option. And it was used in fewer than 2% of all births last year."
