Acne is frustrating and nearly all of us deal with it. Here’s a routine that can treat the root cause acne.
🤔 The root cause of acne is the blockage of pores. This blockage leads to buildup of oil behind the blockage, then acne bacteria on your skin gobbles up the oil causing inflammation. These three products address this issue.
1️⃣ In the morning a cleanser with 4% to 5% benzoyl peroxide reduces acne bacteria and diminishes inflammation.
2️⃣ Acne prone skin is deficient in hydrating and nourishing ceramides at bedtime using a great gentle cleanser to nourish your skin barrier can help improve acne.
3️⃣ After cleansing at bedtime and most importantly, using a great retinoid to reduce the stickiness of skin cells that causes the initial blockage of the poor can be helpful. Keep in my mind it can take 8 to 12 weeks to show results!

Is benzoyl peroxide safe to use? Reports today from an independent lab showed benzene formation in many over the counter acne treatments containing benzoyl peroxide. It appears from the testing this occurred after the products were stored at high temperatures. Benzene can cause cancers, particularly blood cancers. It’s a byproduct of many things around us so sadly we encounter it every day. From what I read some of the products had 100x the normal limit allowed in products which seems concerning. Definitely will be interesting to hear more about this. For now, don’t store your benzoyl peroxide acne products in high temperatures. You could also consider using salicylic acid based acne treatments in the mean time. #benzene #benzoylperoxide #dermatologist

Quick evening trip to NYC for the US Open! Got to see Venus Williams last tournament! Also got to hang out and chat with Maddy Keys who had just come off a win on her first match, she’s been ranked high as 7 in the world! Huge thanks to @LaRochePosayUSA for having me out! 🎾 I learned the rule of tennis, wear your sunscreen!

Sunscreen alone isn’t gonna cut it out here! Gotta have some protective clothing too. Tough to keep up with application in the scorching Arizona sun. Sunglasses ✅ Long sleeve ✅ Hat ✅ even though SPF 30 is the recommendation from the American Academy of Dermatology when I’m doing stuff like this I’m reaching for SPF 50 plus. Why? Because often time people don’t apply enough sunscreen to get the full protection on the label. Stay safe friends. #15august2023 #tuesdayvibe

Reminder that retinol and retinoids like tretinoin don’t thin your skin, they do the opposite. It may thin out the dry dead dull stratum corneum but it thickens the deeper layer of the skin which gives your skin its plumpness! Do you use retinol or retinoid year around?

Melasma is such a pain. Since being back from Greece I’ve done microneedling + PRP along with rotating some awesome over the counter skincare with great results. Headed to the pool today, don’t want to lose my progress. Treating melasma takes near perfect consistency with sun protection!
