@moultano Money. And, medical schools prefer that undergraduate institutions pre-screen their applicants for them.

I don't get why law and medicine don't both start your real training in undergrad. Seems like a huge waste of life to make you get a bachelor's first.

3. And I don't think that "not amenable to reform" is true. Take my own profession -- law. In most places in the United States, you need to attend law school for three years and then pass a bar examination to practice law.
