Growth isn't guaranteed.
The only way to improve in life is to make growth a daily habit.
And it becomes a daily habit when you combine discipline, perseverance, and intentionality.
Everyone wants to improve, but few are willing to the work every day.
6 habits to make growth inevitable:
1. Set Clear Goals
Goals provide direction and a sense of purpose. They allow you to measure performance and make sure it aligns with your values. Goals don’t always have to be big and broad, they can be daily cadences or weekly expectations.
2. Own Your Mindset and Your Actions
Adopt a growth mindset, believing that your abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and effort. Take responsibility for your thoughts, beliefs, and actions. Challenge self-limiting beliefs and replace them with empowering ones. Cultivate self-discipline, consistency, and accountability to make growth a daily practice.
3. Practice Resilience
Embrace the mindset that setbacks and failures are opportunities for growth and learning.
- Expect that there will be setbacks.
- Expect that there will be adversity.
Try new things. Do tough things. Set a stretch goal. Enjoy tackling hard problems. When you try new things, you develop the ability to adapt and grow stronger.
4. Reflect and Evaluate
You can’t improve if you don’t how you’re doing and where you need to grow. Set time aside daily or weekly to evaluate your performance and reflect. Measuring your growth allows you to see the opportunities and celebrate your wins. Opportunities create more opportunities.
5. Connect with Other People Who Look to Improve
You become the picture of who you surround yourself with. When you find a growth-oriented community, you are challenged to broaden your horizons and reach for more. The support and motivation of who you surround yourself with helps when you need times of motivation, support, reflection, and growth.
6. Be Creative
Creativity is not limited to artistic pursuits. Think outside the box, seek new perspectives, explore new ideas, and challenge conventional thinking. Embrace curiosity and embrace opportunities for creative expression and growth.
