@LoloFennec So…was it cool of them? No. Absolutely not. Artists, do not do this. Would it have been worthwhile to chase them for $7 worth of work? Also no. I’ve decided to call it a tip and move on.

@LoloFennec I’ve had an artist ghost me once, but it was a $14 icon comm in which I’d only invested $7. They were also advertising these as emergency comms to cover unexpected bills. (1/2)

@dg_random I don’t and wouldn’t do it in a way that makes it an expectation because it’s not always possible for me, but I try to find little ways to say “thank you!” so they know they’re appreciated ^_^

@Alkraas_art I’ve taken advanced life drawing in uni and sometimes I sketch my OCs nude just *because*- none of my work is sexual. I agree that it’s all context specific! ^^

@Avi_the_phoenix Yes! It’s a lot better for your mental health, imo, though it’s still a thing I struggle with as someone who takes comms even infrequently. I’ve definitely responded to DMs at times I had attempted to designate as down-time before.

Reading the responses on this one, I’m starting to think it wise for artists to work office hours into their T.O.S. Full-time or hobby, make your line between commission work and the rest of your life as clear as possible to your clients.

I personally don’t have office hours in my Terms of Service (yet), but I have them on my Trello. They’re going to have to be updated after I start my second job at which point I think I’m DEFINITELY going to move them.
