Brandon Sanderson explains why he stopped reading George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones series: "With Ice and Fire, I specifically found Daenerys's plot too brutal. I'm all for putting characters into terrible situations, and letting horrible things happen. But her plot crossed the line for me. I did not want to read a series where teenage girls have their brothers brutally murdered before them, are raped into submission, finally fall into a kind of stockholm syndrome love with their captor, then get betrayed for showing a little kindness. There's a kind of brilliance to the way that plot played out, but when I was done with it, I just felt sick. It's not a value judgement for anyone else. I decided from that, however, that series was not for me. I've kept tabs on the plot and worldbuilding, however, because it would be foolish not to be aware of what the top of one's field is doing." When did you quit the series?

some dunkaerion shippers hate tanselle so bad and its getting fucking WEIRD

Rhaenyra choosing to style her hair in Visenya-like braids, wearing Targaryen colors, to symbolize her defiance against those attempting to diminish her—seeking strength from this familial connection, her heritage, and striving to emulate Visenya in her fight against the Greens🥹

fever so bad that I dreamed that I was daenerys having a dragon dream about varys and not being able to kill him in the wall(? or winterfell, even tho he was after me

besides headcanons being sold as fact in implying that rhaenyra’s death caused the dying of the dragons is to grossly belittle the other dragon riding targ women of the time. her death/dragon connection doesn’t take precedence over laena, rhaenys, helaena, baela or even nettles

This is exactly why a character like Nettles is so important. Her mere existence, physical features, and questionable parentage went against everything people believed about Valyrian blood purity.
