IU: I just had so much fun hanging out with these two. So one day I made this ridiculous suggestion, like, “How about when it’s the three of us together, we just speak more casually to each other?” (laughs) Not when it’s just the two of us, only when all three of us are together! No “unnie” or “oppa,” just like, “Hey, guys!” like that.
Since Soobin was the oldest among the three of us, he could’ve felt uncomfortable with that idea, but he actually went along with it willingly. So we became even more comfortable, like real friends.
But then later, the two of them said, “Once the project ends, it’s not like we’re going to stay friends, right?” So I kind of proved them wrong. I wanted to show that I saw them as friends I’d still want to hang out with even after the drama ended. I was the one who suggested we meet on a day off from filming.
Lee Yeon: That’s right. Suddenly!
IU: At first, neither of them believed me. So after a few months, bam! I picked a place and the three of us actually met up. It was our first time eating together outside. I think the trip started from that “proof.” (laughs) Like, “Anyone can eat together for two or three hours~ but going on a trip together? That’s real friendship!” They kept teasing me like that.
Lee Yeon: Like, “Next time we work on another project, we’ll get close to other actors, and we’ll forget each other, right?” They kept provoking her like that. (laughs)
IU: And that’s how we even ended up going on a trip to Jeju together. Maybe it’s a relationship built on proof… and more proof on top of that?
