This is a very stupid take if you’ve been watching football. If you are a Messi fan, you can subjectively say he gets in but if you are a football fan, you objectively won’t have him in your starting 11. Everyone on that England squad presses off the ball and Messi won’t give you that. That means you would defensively play with 9 players out of the field. Messi is one of the most dispossessed players in this Worldcup that means everyone would have to work twice as hard. English players are proud players, they are not submissive and wouldn’t submit to the Messi gimmick as you lot think. So, you can say that Messi is the top scorer which is true but he has also had more chances on goal than both Bellingham & Kane, why because both of these players are working defensively as they are offensively. Ofcourse he has more goals because that’s his only input to the game. His chance creating abilities aren’t that top because they’ve produced only 2 assists and one of them was a corner. I wouldn’t even have him on the wing because he is on as fast with the ball, he’s nolonger the same guy in 1v1 situations if you noticed and he can’t help the full backs in defensive scenarios. Among the team that are in the semi finals, I believe he can’t help start for Spain because that’s his kind of football. He would be a joy to watch with Lamine especially in the 1 2 moments. England & France play a different type of football which relies mostly on individual prowess rather than collective strength.
