On the contrary, whenever they hear "product" they seem more reassured that their product KPIs will stay on top of the agenda. This logic is problematic because: Lack of respect for the representatives of users internally = lack of respect for users themselves = product failure

I don't think that "designer" is what lacks respect over "product" to be honest. But instead, it is the "user" part that many still struggle with. Despite the growth of user experience design today, some top-level; businessmen still have an allergy to anything user-led.
