@iLurkedYou Hell if I know, I’ve known of this for over 20 years now. Guess not everyone is in the know.
English

@dransick1 I did this, everyone i know did this, ive though it was the norm for the last 10 years, is this a new finding to most people?
English

Wrestling dads been doing it for the love of the game well before NIL
The Wall Street Journal@WSJ
Boy athletes are repeating eighth grade in a "holdback" year to grow ahead of recruitment for college NIL packages potentially worth millions on.wsj.com/4rAVtEQ
English

@obeansX It’s the norm rather than the exception to hold back at some point to make them 19 when a senior in high school.
English

@dransick1 For sure. I mean all the kids who did got full rides to college for wrestling and this was before the NIL era.
English

@obeansX If you’re not holding back you’re not committed to winning
English

@dransick1 Used to think it was insane when I found out a bunch of my friends were repeating 8th grade for wrestling, but now it’s mainstream.
English

@dransick1 Had a mf I wrestled with in youth that was a year older than me and ended up two years behind me. Genuinely despicable and unethical behavior by some dads out there
English

@SpencerHolbrook @mickdwalker @LettermenRow Is Ohio State now just taking what Bama did under Saban but with NFL coaches instead?
English

NEWS: Ohio State has hired long-time NFL and college pass-rush specialist Joe Kim to its coaching staff, multiple sources tell @LettermenRow.
Kim is a decorated football coach and taekwondo instructor...

@dransick1 The same Mark Hall that lost state in Kentucky so he moved to Minnesota and repeated 7th grade so he could win state 6 times. Just a wild move
English

@OrinVeidt I remember ending up at Ryle High his 7th grade year and competing. Literally grew up in Michigan moved to Kentucky to just end up at Apple Valley.
English

@TomFornelli Good to know that the CFB expert for @PardonMyTake is a pro dog lover
English

@runawaybeertrck To me that’s not holding back that’s course correcting. I was a summer bday so if I wasn’t held back in pre k I would have been 17 at graduation.
English

@dransick1 It does, I was also going to be 17 when I graduated high school so it was to put me in the right class honestly
English

@dransick1 Pretty sure my sr year in CA 7/8 state placers at my weight were hold backs
English

@nwobball A lot of times in 8th grade they home school or switch between public to private. Time honored tradition in the wrestling community. The key is to be as close to 20 without going over 20 when you graduate high school.
English

@dransick1 Do school systems arbitrarily allow it if the student/ athlete does not have an IEP?
English

@BarstoolBigCat Kids today with streaming apps will never understand the pure joy to switch between commercials perfectly
English

I can’t stop thinking about this. I don’t want to say dream job because it’s probably annoying running around changing TV’s but you just know this guy has it down to a science and takes insane pride in his work.
I also think I may put on a TV Remote changing Olympics
William Galloway@Wm_Galloway
Had dinner at a local establishment last night and was informed that someone on staff was the designated “tv remote guy” to switch between games. No bartending, no waiting tables. Just ball. 10/10 job. 100% tip
English

@OrinVeidt The 2017 NCAA runner up Mark Hall did in fact do that
English

@runawaybeertrck I don’t hate it all. It works more often more than not.
English

@dransick1 Can confirm, I did it but it was my own decision. It was 100% worth it though
English

@dransick1 What’s wild is they’ll repeat pre-k and then repeat 8th grade
English

@WrestlingHotTa1 Holding back them in the 8th grade? Get them ready for boarding school?
English

@dransick1 I’ve learned that RICH dads have been doing this for generations regardless of athletics.
