The @Yankees RHP Cole having imaging done concerning RT elbow discomfort… should know extent of the issue soon. Lots to digest if you’re a “Bombers” fan … my take having pitched for 18 seasons in MLB... Began the season late (elbow discomfort in spring training 2024) …made his 2024 debut on June 19th vs Orioles.. was able to make his starts the rest of the season but at times was inconsistent with his velo,curveball and slider command. Not surprising to me .. when you have an issue and are trying to protect it 2 things happen .. 1. Your in between prep and throwing is altered (trying to conserve your bullets for the games) 2. Your constantly worrying about your health and that takes away from the day to day freedom of just catching and throwing the ball which you’ve done most of your life without any hesitation and doubt. But when you throw a ball and wait just that split second to prepare for what that feel may bring after you let it go … it begins to weigh on you more mentally than physically. To me it was obvious that this guy is a throw back to pitchers gone by … he is a legitimate ace and he understands his importance to the Yankees and their hopes every year of playing deep October baseball … on Sept 20th in Oakland Cole went 9innings and I thought it was the first time all season he looked like the old Cole of 2023 (Cy Winner) … his post season was good (2.17 era) but 22K’s in 29 IP was not the stuff we are accustomed to seeing from one of the top 5 active pitchers in MLB. I’m hoping like the entire Yankees faithful that this latest setback is just minor. He gutted thru 2024 and I admire the hell out of that… a lot of pitchers would not have played the deck of cards he was dealt and spent most of the year on the IL waiting to be 100%… he gets it and don’t ever question his toughness and desire to compete … we need more guys like him now more than ever. 🙏.

@MLB is a small fraternity of men blessed to put on those uniforms. And many will continue in very prominent roles after careers are over. Mr. Uecker certainly did that and he filled so many people’s heart w joy thru our great game. Privileged to know him. RIP my friend.
