War leaves behind more than ruins. In Syria, explosive ordnance continues to kill and injure civilians years after fighting stops. On #MineAwarenessDay we call for sustained investment in mine action—because recovery begins with safety: brnw.ch/21x1jJI

“Spain has to choose between being an open and prosperous country or a closed & poor one.” (Sánchez) Spain's move to regularise migrants shows a clear alternative to dominant restrictive approaches & anti-migrant rhetoric across Europe. Read more on Spain’s approach: f.mtr.cool/gfiliemzjt #MMR2025

The Bangladesh–Libya–Italy corridor operates as a distributed system across Bangladesh, the Gulf and Libya. Responses focused only on maritime arrivals or border interception rarely disrupt the full chain. Reducing vulnerability requires action across the route. f.mtr.cool/fnxiprhyox

𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐇𝐀-𝐍𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐃 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟑 𝐊𝐢𝐜𝐤-𝐎𝐟𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰, 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 & 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 Over the past week, #BORESHA-NABAD consortium teams convened in Dollow, Somalia and Mandera, Kenya for the programme’s Year 3 kick-off meetings, bringing together teams working across the Somalia–Ethiopia and Kenya clusters. The sessions brought together programme teams from the Danish Refugee Council (Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia), @RACIDA_Ngo (Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia), @Vopa_K, and @WFPD_CBO. The meetings provided an important opportunity to reflect on progress to date and align teams on priorities for the programme’s final phase. Discussions focused on developing a clear 18-month implementation roadmap, reviewing indicator gaps, strengthening coordination across thematic areas, and identifying strategic communication and visibility opportunities for the coming months. Programme teams also worked to align work plans, budgets, and reporting processes to ensure implementation remains coordinated, efficient, and responsive to community needs across the borderlands.

As #BORESHA-NABAD moves into its final phase, focusing on sustainability will be critical to consolidating gains and delivering sustainable outcomes for communities across the Mandera Triangle.

Ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in USA could leave 600,000+ Venezuelans at risk of deportation. Across the Americas, protections are fragile. Of ~7 million Venezuelans abroad in the region, only 4% have refugee status. Most rely on ad hoc legal arrangements.  f.mtr.cool/bvptkoukol

Eastern #DRCongo remains one of the world’s most dangerous places to be a woman or girl. Last week, Baroness Chapman visited DRC safe spaces in North Kivu, funded by @FCDOGovUK, seeing how local teams protect and support survivors every day. 🧵⬇️

Escalating violence in the Middle East is devastating civilians. As families flee Lebanon, DRC teams provided urgent food and water at the Jdeidet Yabous border crossing. Civilians must be protected. Aid is no substitute for political solutions. 🔗brnw.ch/21x0tUu

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲: 𝐀𝐛𝐝𝐢’𝐬 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐮𝐛𝐞 “This field used to give us nothing. Only dust and lost hope,” said Abdi Khalif Mohamed in 2025. At the onset of the September 2025 drought, the 7.5-hectare group farm that Abdi co-manages with his 30-member farmer group in Wadlahube, Ethiopia, had become a symbol of fatigue. Years of erratic rains, silt build-up and invasive vegetation had reduced its productivity. With oxen as the only means of ploughing, expanding cultivation and reclaiming the land felt unrealistic. Many farmers scaled back. Some stopped farming altogether. Yet beyond Wadlahube, demand for fodder and staple crops across the border continued to grow. Abdi and his 30-member farmer group decided to try again, this time differently. With funding from the European Union, BORESHA-NABAD, implemented by DRC Ethiopia, facilitated mechanised land preparation, including tractor ploughing and reclamation of degraded farmlands. The group was linked to agro-input suppliers who facilitated access to certified seeds, and to the government extension team under the Ministry of Agriculture, which trained them on drought-resilient production practices aligned with market demand. For Abdi and his 30-member group, this shifted what was possible. ✔️ Over 9,500 bales and crop units harvested this season 🌾 Maize, Sudan grass, sorghum, beans and watermelon are cultivated across reclaimed land 🤝 Produce supplied consistently into cross-border markets “Before, we were farming to cope. Now we farm knowing there is a buyer.” Abdi reflects The transformation did not come from a single intervention or a good rainy season. It came from farmers organising, accessing the right services, and producing in response to real demand. What was once idle land now supports livestock, feeds households and generates income. For Abdi, the difference is simple. The land did not just return; it began functioning again. #ClimateAdaptation #Resilience

⚡ In many homes in #Kyiv, indoor temperatures drop to just +10°C after shelling damaged Heat and Power Plants. DRC supports invincibility points across #Ukraine — including the capital — where people can warm up, eat hot meals, and charge their devices during freezing weather. 🎬 See how it works Funded by the EU (@echo_Europe)
