@LucianoMet26544 @kitten_beloved sure but that's a separate argument about those old games being built around the hardware at the time. His original post was completely inaccurate and just outright outdated.
English

@drcheungus @kitten_beloved I was just playing Donkey Kong Country on Ares with my OLED monitor to test it out. Microstuttering out the ass as the monitor tries to sync the onslaught of fast moving side scrolling coming at it.
These games were designed around their display technology.
English

Latency basically killed this kind of game play
20ms or more input lag, another 20ms display lag, it's a very serious disadvantage
Modern games design action and combat around these constraints

‘How are you so focused under pressure?’ Me in 1995:
English

@kitten_beloved @LucianoMet26544 I'm guessing you aren't aware of Nvidia reflex or Radeon anti lag either unc? And yes they are no longer better for input processing time either at 60hz. This was true of early LCDs with really bad input latency and controllers. OLED is instantaneous at 360hz

@drcheungus @LucianoMet26544 Why do you keep quoting the time it takes a pixel to change color instead of the input processing time
It's either dumb or dishonest
English

@LucianoMet26544 @kitten_beloved If you use a wired controller and a 0.03ms oled gaming monitor which are now $400 you could have that still. Also that 10ms is worst case scenario with a cheap TV and wireless controller smarty pants.
English

@drcheungus @kitten_beloved well yes this is forrest gump tier
6-10ms is still much higher than than the <1ms you'd get on an old console with a wired controller.

@Wolfe2x7 @kitten_beloved Keep gaming on your 12in crt with your power glove 🍻
English

@drcheungus @kitten_beloved Don't come back at me with fuckin' Brave Search AI, you deluded ignoramus. I know that interface. I was more polite than the other comments.
Piss off, cunt.
English

@Wolfe2x7 @kitten_beloved Sorry you crt heads still have old information, you were correct for awhile but it's not 2008.

English

@drcheungus @kitten_beloved Hate to break it to you but those numbers aren't input latency. Those advertised numbers are the pixel response time. Totally different.

@Efter_Gren @mots_pod @NicoleSHsing @baelentina_ No It would bring me joy to ruin the rest of their autistic day.

@kitten_beloved Take the L nigga sorry you have 10 year
year old info.
English

@miffyhazel @kitten_beloved Idk information from 2016? Input latency was bad on early LCD like you could have a good 40-50ms but that's been fixed on any modern TV with a low latency mode like I said like 5ms and any gaming monitor is like 0.03ms now.
English

@drcheungus @kitten_beloved I agree what the fuck is he talking about? Input latency is not a real issue anyone is facing in the year 2026
English

@AllieJade1 Gen X guy here. I just stare back until they curl into a quivering little ball on the floor.
English

I've read about this Gen Z stare and up til now, I'd never encountered it. That was until today. I walked into a local take out shop. 2 cash registers, 2 people ready to take your order. The first girl was busy with customers, so I look at the girl at the 2nd cash. She just stares at me. Her face never moved, she didn't blink, she just stared at me like I was invisible. It was like she didn't know how to acknowledge or give basic social cues. I'm looking at her thinking, usually people behind the counter say hello first as a cue to advance to their wicket. She just stared at me!
So I ask: Hi, do you want to take my order?
Her: Sure.
That's all she initially said.
Honestly it was the oddest thing I've ever encountered, it was like she was on auto pilot. Once I started speaking to her, it was like her batteries kicked in and then she smiled became friendly.
Has anyone else ever encountered that stare?

English

@DrEliDavid I didn't expect much from an Israeli but I admit they always surprise even me.
