Today is the 46th anniversary of the Japanese arrest of Paul McCartney. He arrived at Narita Airport with about half a pound of marijuana in his suitcase. He was deported without facing formal criminal charges that could've resulted in a prison sentence.

After months (if not years) of planning, Sharla and I enjoyed the most incredible day, surrounded by so many amazing people. Truly the perfect end to 2025!
We chose Christmas as it's our favourite time of year. A time to be cosily tucked away indoors alongside friends and family.
I have to say a huge thank you to everyone who's been a part of our journey over these years. We're beyond blessed to have a spectacular community of people around the world.

@GearoidReidy Great piece, thanks for linking. It seems likely, doesn't it, that the principle of not permitting nuclear weapons on Japanese soil isn't going to last much longer. NATO-style hosting of US weapons surely on the cards soon?

A senior official in Japan PM Takaichi's office told reporters that Japan should have nuclear weapons.
While this is their personal view and there are no actual discussions in place, it's a big statement from a senior figure.
