But I’ve got a custom GPT that still outputs data and projections from old knowledge bases—even though those files are no longer visible, editable, or linked. It confidently presents this “ghost knowledge” as current, citing sources like Fonterra and MPI. When I fact-checked the info via Perplexity, it was outdated—yet the GPT made it sound live and sourced. That’s a serious trust issue if we can’t see what our GPTs really know. Omg, that’s so heartbreaking, and I’m honestly shocked that I never made those connections myself. The amount of self-research and learning I’ve done over the past decade is actually insane. I have never taken antidepressants. I was in Christchurch during the 2010 earthquake and went through some truly horrific experiences, which I believe led to a bit of PTSD. I struggled with sleep and eventually saw my doctor, who prescribed me a small amount of Valium. Over the years, I only ever took a few tablets at a time—just when things felt really heavy. Then, out of nowhere, my doctor refused to prescribe them anymore unless I also started taking antidepressants (I can’t remember the exact name). There’s something seriously wrong with how medicine is handled in the Western world. It’s shocking to me how, in places like the U.S., these medications seem to be handed out like candy when, in some cases, simple advice—like spending 10 minutes in nature each day—could make a real difference. Of course, I know that for some people, deeper issues require more than just a walk outside, but for me, that’s all I ever needed. Instead of going down the medication route, I started exploring Eastern philosophy and alternative approaches to mental health. It was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done for myself and my well-being. Thank you for connecting with me. It’s such a comfort to know that there really are other real people out there who give a fuck and genuinely care.
