Yesterday’s #JuhiMui episode. > The impact Sanyam and Juhi have had on each other in such a short time is beautiful. Juhi remembered his sunflower analogy, and Sanyam recognized her through it instantly. The disbelief, hope, and relief on his face… their slow-burn bond has my ❤️

I LOVE how literally every episode of Juhi Mui has some kind of sunflower reference 🌻 they’re such a core part of Juhi’s story. The way Sanyam knew she had to be near because the sunflowers were arranged to face each other… something he taught her.🤍🥹 #JuhiMui #EishaSingh

what really stands out to me abt juhi in #juhimui is that, outside of moments like today’s ep, she’s a pretty confident person w/ a sense of self worth. that’s only possible bc her family accommodated her needs rather than constantly trying to “fix” her claiming she’s defective

even loving indian families will encourage or force their neurodivergent kids to “be normal” in really damaging ways. parents think that performing normalcy will protect their kids from society but in reality it makes kids anxious, overstimulated, self hating, & depressed

im not trying to claim all autistic ppl are one and the same, but juhi is definitely being characterized in this way. the whole point of the this show is to demonstrate how autistic ppl like juhi experience and understand the world differently and that must be accounted for

in this scene, you as a non-autistic viewer understand an unspoken social truth which is that, sometimes, it is ok to bend or break the rules if its for a good reason. juhi, like many autistic people, lives almost entirely based on spoken social rules such as: bribery is illegal.

respectfully, she cant "see" his good intentions because she is autistic which means that she cant process or pick up on unspoken social cues. she isnt trying to put him down, her brain literally processes things differently than non-autistic ppl do. thats what the show is about
