The thing that you have to understand about leadership levels like mine and above: by the time someone has drawn the courage to ask you for help on something, it’s at the point that you have to make absolutely sure you’re paying attention and willing to help.

@JxckSweeney @ElonJet Elon suspending the account that tracks his jets but allowing the account that tracks Bezos’ jets shows what type of “free speech” he wants with the Twitter acquisition.

@mipsytipsy So just learned on accident that clicking connect on LinkedIn mobile app doesn’t give you an option to add a comment to the request. Also no way to undo. Sorry was not trying to spam you!

one of our most consistent sources of leads continues to be engineers who leave a job where they could use honeycomb, and join a job where they can't 💜🐝

GPT can iteratively write, debug, and test programs to accomplish arbitrary goals. Pictured: GPT reading snippets of HTML from HN and building a headline scraper in Python, overcoming bugs by simply reading the errors and self-judgments and hypothesizing to itself. Thread ↓

Yeeesssss!! Lowkey obsessed with decision records/ADRs right now. If I were starting a new company (which I *am not,* and *will never*) I would be using these from day one. And not just for technical decisions, either. For any decision with a blast radius of >1 group.

My usual beef with reference architectures is that they launder the creators' assumptions into "best practices" without helping you put your own needs in context. Turns out there's a cheat code to get past this problem, and the team that built "Emblem Giving" found it:

@QuinnyPig @redmonk @sogrady If I were betting - Github will build the next Heroku-like and it will take over everything because it will be a comprehensive all-in-one dev experience that flips this problem on its head (probably based on Azure underneath, but if they're smart they'll make it cloud-agnostic).

Today one of my team said to me that he thought my job was to create the conditions where people could choose to be happy at work, and the rest was up to them. I really love this way of expressing the power and boundaries of management.

Is there a clipboard manager that will auto-strip tracking codes from tweets when I copy the link?

AI will be a huge force of change over the next two decades. But it’s a parrot. It gives you the avg; middle; common. & reinforce the norm. But we’ll leave even more opportunity to innovate at the edges. Creativity is how to win. Just make sure your answer is above avg, not below

My favorite type of security tools are the ones where you can just yolo them against a target or directory, without having to think about arguments, and you get high value output immediately.
