@alexandersix_ Same! It’s easy to spend too much time at the computer tinkering on software ideas if I don’t watch myself.

@drewclemcr8 Man, physical hobbies are SERIOUSLY underrated for tech folks. I genuinely love what I do, and building software is my job AND one of my hobbies, but I need something physical to get me off the computer every once in a while.

The longer I’m in tech, the more I want some other job doing a physical thing. But, none of those would give me the space I have for time with family and hobbies. Looking forward to warmer weather and getting into some yard work and other shenanigans.

Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do and am grateful for the opportunity.

I think that, in the year of Our Lord 2026, there is no reason to pick JavaScript over TypeScript for your frontend.

jfc I’m never drinking again. just woke up with my laptop in bed and all my sites have been converted to next.js.

2025 was rough for a multitude of reasons: health, loss of the family pet, a string of other things. Roughest year in a while by far. Looking forward to a reset in 2026, realigning on personal and professional goals, and making more space for joy. Happy new year!

@alexandersix_ I dont have a go-to. My grandfather used them prolifically so I try to keep at least one around to use. My current (empty) one was hand spun by a buddy of mine that was getting into woodworking a few years back.

Even with all the technology in the world, there is no thinking/brainstorming setup quite like a nice pen and a notebook. Bonus points if it's a fun fountain pen–there's just something inspiring about a beautiful writing instrument.

I’ve never gotten 100% accuracy in a chess game before. With 5 “great” moves, too. I knew some of the defense of the Englund Gambit and apparently that plus some lucky choices and some bad moves by my opponent led to 100% accuracy.

Last night, at 4AM I hear my 6yr old yelling my name. I shoot out of bed, expecting her to be throwing up or to have had a nightmare. I get to her room...she looks me dead in the eyes and says "Can you tell mommy how excited I am to spend time with her in the morning?" To which my still half asleep self replies "....um, what?" Only for her to put the final nail in the coffin by saying as she rolls over "that's all, goodnight"
