Of course, I double tapped the record button, but I still managed to get a brief shot of the world's weakest tornado while hanging out the window blasting down the interstate. I’m actually getting very annoyed with every new age chaser always attacking and going after the SPC for outlooks. Just because the last 3 years of chasing has been bonkers tornado wise doesn’t mean you are all forecasting geniuses. It’s not always as simple as a HRRR/RRFS run to show you a squall line and call it trash for putting a 10% hatch. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

After getting a short few hours of sleep and thinking about it, I am under the impression that the lake breeze boundary was shoved north/retreated after the storm was north of it, allowing for it to "relatch" onto the boundary. Which allowed for the full tornadic potential to be reached. In 10 years of chasing, I do not think i have EVER seen a storm look so bad visually and manage to get back onto a boundary that isnt forecasted to lift north with the storm. I believe this is what caught the other veteran chasers off guard as well. Which goes to show that even in 2026, we still do not fully understand everything there is to know about severe weather. There was a 9+ inch hailstone way out in a field somewhere, and no one will ever know.

17 years of storm chasing with tornadoes in over a dozen states. First time taking my dad who got me into weather along. Wish us luck. I'm ready to hang it up and move on to middle aged activities after this year. (I always say this and it continues) UPDATE: We had good luck
