Thank you Dad… A few things my father did for me when I was younger that I’ll forever be grateful for: • He was my number one fan and coach. • My fondest memories are us at the local school practicing fielding, fly balls, him throwing batting practice and playing pepper. • We threw regular bullpens in the back yard. He put a brick in the ground to act as a pitching rubber and made a strike zone out of a sheet of plywood with a piece of carpet hanging behind to stop the strikes. • He kept track of my total pitches and total strikes and would track strike percentages. • We would play “21” all the time. Head was 5 points, torso was 3 points and the lower body was 1 point. Had to get exactly 21 to win. • When in High school we built a dirt mound in the back yard. • He always made me take time off from throwing in the off season. • He would put together a 8-10 week throwing plan every pre season to get me ready for tryouts (high school). • He printed out motivating and inspiring quotes that I hung up on my bedroom walls. • He “made” me do yard work and I’ll never forget digging out tree stumps with shovels, axes and pick axes. My father didn’t grow up playing baseball. Everything he did and taught me was learned through reading and video (VHS). He ingrained in me the importance of command from day one. I’ll forever be grateful for the work ethic he instilled from a young age and the relentless support he (and of course my mother) gave me even through my difficult teenage years (off the field). Thank you Dad!

There is nothing like being a @LittleLeague coach. Making it to Williamsport isn't the goal - having fun, learning & loving the sport, and being good teammates is what its all about. And ice cream. Lots of ice cream... #LLWS #WestHartfordLittleLeague

Why do Hall of Fames wait until people die? Why do they adhere to arbitrary categorical rules that really mean nothing and can be changed with fewer than 12 words? Hall of Fames/museums simply tell a story and ceremonies give someone a chance to feel love from family and friends and adoring strangers. Otherwise, these buildings are really meaningless. Why wouldn't one want to do that? You can't tell the story of hockey without the 30ish years Don Cherry and Barry Melrose gave the game via National Television. They both gave THEIR THEIR ENTIRE LIVES to hockey and the NHL. Imagine how warm a night like that would be make those two GIANTS feel and those of us that loved their entertainment and hearts. Time is limited for both. Cherry is 91 and Barry has Parkinson's. How easy is this? What are we doing?
