Mary and I are enjoying my study at home tonight. Rare night at home. In fact, the first one since November 14th, 2025. Not wise. A wise leader once said, “If you don’t control your calendar others will”

Why We Should Bring Our Copies of God’s Word to Church ⛪️ Bringing a Bible to church is not “old timey”…it is discipline. It is a deliberate act that says, God will speak, and I intend to listen carefully. 1️⃣ It is honors the authority of Scripture. When the Bible is open in our hands, we are reminded that the sermon is not the main event..the Word of God is. The preacher explains it; the Spirit applies it; the Scripture confirms it all. 2️⃣ It trains us to be participants, not spectators. A Bible in hand allows us to follow along, verify what is preached, and see the context for ourselves. Christianity has never been a “just take my word for it” faith. Truth welcomes examination. 3️⃣ It sharpens attention and reverence. An open Bible has a way of quieting the soul. As a pastor, I love hearing the pages in Bibles turning on Sunday morning. Music to my hears! 4️⃣ It teaches the next generation what matters. Children notice what we carry. When they see Mom and Dad bring a Bible, not just a phone, they learn that God’s Word is important and wieghty in their lives. 5️⃣ It invites personal engagement with God. Notes in the margin, underlined verses, dated prayers.. these are the marks of a living relationship with Scripture. 6️⃣ It prepares us for life outside the sanctuary. If the Word is only opened on a screen once a week, it will not steady us on Monday. A well-worn Bible is often reflects a life that is not worn out.. Bring your Bible. Open it. Mark it up. Carry it like it matters… because it does. See you Sunday!
