✨ Glad to share our original research article published in the Indian Journal of Gastroenterology! 📘 “Oral Semaglutide for Weight Loss and Liver Fibrosis in Overweight and Obesity: A Randomized Controlled Trial” (Indian J Gastroenterol, 2025 | DOI: 10.1007/s12664-025-01856-7) @IJG_Journal This prospective randomized controlled trial, conducted at AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, evaluated the efficacy of oral semaglutide in non-diabetic adults with overweight or obesity. Over a 28-week period, oral semaglutide led to: ✅ ~10.5 % mean weight reduction vs 2.4 % in controls ✅ Significant improvement in ALT, APRI, and liver stiffness (FibroScan) ✅ Reduction in total and visceral fat mass ✅ Meaningful gains in metabolic and cardiometabolic health 💡 Even at a dose of 14 mg daily, oral semaglutide — combined with lifestyle modification — offers a safe and effective non-surgical option for obesity management in the South Asian population. 🙏 Grateful to my mentors @RakeshKalapala1, @DrDNReddy, and team @AIGHospitals — @AnandVKulkarni2, @miNitinjagtap, @drgouthamreddy, Pratik Chhabra, and Chandhana Merugu — for their collaboration throughout this journey.
