I am not exaggerating when I say that I felt dispair the moment I realized all those silly characters created for padding out FF7 Remake were all gonna comeback for their own silly, uninteresting sidequests in Rebirth (sometimes even a series of sidequests). And I'm already preemptively groaning at going through a third round of it in the next game.

ok i have determined there is nearly no side content worth doing in ff7 rebirth and its time to just get this game over with after 2 years of pain, its awful

@NightSkyKing_ Gotta keep the investment low on their cash cow so they can reinvest all the revenue from it into other 5-year dev cycle multiplayer games that will fail within 18 months from their release.

Seriously. For as much money as XIV makes, the fact that the team seemingly does not get more budget approved more frequently is kinda crazy lol. But there's a lot of insanely high quality MMOs coming out, many free2play, and so to stand out, XIV will need that investment.

This scene is like a litmus test for your capacity to experience empathy.

The sound of Reptile screaming and grunting thru the mask is fuckin sick.

D&Ds worst instinct was that they often made changes based on how much they liked the actor and the kind of performance they preferred out of them, which is not uncommon in TV or film and can often work out well but not so much when you are adapting a long running book series filled with very strongly developed characters.

GRRM: Tywin is, on surface, golden. Powerful, feared but respected, reasonable. But it's all shit. His "successes" were always at expense of non-nobles, he's a mid general, emotionally insecure. Wrote an entire book on this (AFfC) point. D&D: Got it, greatest man to ever live.

I think he does a decent job at analyzing some aspects of gameplay and narrative design and is absolutely dogshit at others (anything to do with gameplay balance) but has a tendency to speak with an authoritative tone on all of it so it really grinds people's gears. He gets easier to listen to once you accept its OK for other people to have different opinions or even to be wrong and loud about them, you can either not listen or just be confident on your own views and not take it personal. The irony is that he himself does get occasionally butthurt about these if you come at him hard on his chat, but I never said the man is perfect. He is funny enough I'll put up with the occasional chat-inspired rant, or skip forward if I don't want to.

Not a big fan of Joseph Anderson, but he was so on point when he was describing The Witcher 1's combat exists as the means of providing "context" of what's happening rather than being the main dish which fits well with (c/w)rpgs design at large.

I do think it's worth noting that, despite the effort from the dev team on Papa Nier being "phoned-in" due to it being a compromise forced by corporate, the localization team and VA cast made the best of what they had to work with and delivered something that is still memorable and even endearing in its own way. Very much a "when life gives you lemons" sort of scenario.

Papa Nier is so fascinating. He's a product of the time where japanese devs were trying to appeal to westerners. So what you get is this absurdly buff middle aged guy reading lines made originally for a teenage boy which gives him this unique, endearing charm.
