Tbh, webnovels release daily, so obv that's why they can't have the exact same prose as like Malazan. Which... doesn't even have to drop a chapter every single week, you know? But like, that totally doesn't mean the other qualities or the author's effort can't be the same
Hukunah@Hukunah
Just chatting. There are no similarities. There genuinely isn’t a webnovel you can compare to Malazan. They just haven’t hit that level and quite frankly I don’t think they ever will. If their upcoming authors are being inspired by LoTM, ORV, Shadow Slave etc etc
English

It takes a truly staggering lack of reading comprehension to compare Rake to Medici. That is like comparing a tragic king to a rabid dog simply because both have teeth. And a lucky coin? Please. I feel profound pity for whoever is forced to grade your literature essays.

Similarities between Lord of Mysteries & Malazan that I found interesting. The Fool & Oppon represented by 2 personalities, one that brings misfortune (CW & male twin of Oppon). The other brings fortune (Klein & female twin of Oppon). Oppon's lucky coin vs Will Auceptin's coin. Warrens basically acting like the Gods' divine kingdom. Anomander Rake reminds me of Medici. #LOTM #Malazan

@AesirResurgent tbh in a mythological epic, the ability to secure a boon from a deity and the ability to command such respect/love that your enemies hesitate to kill you are considered forms of power
English

Bhishma is strong on paper but Drona killed more powerful warriors (Drupad, Virata) and caused more destruction. Bhishma was also scared to face Ghatotkach and used to ask Drona and Bhagdutta to fight him everytime he showed up.
CineAlpha@CineAlpha1
In your opinion, who was the more powerful warrior — Bheeshma or Dronacharya?
English

@AesirResurgent this is a false dichotomy To be a "wall" in a war, you need both. If Bhishma had the boon but lacked the skill, Arjuna would have simply knocked him off his chariot or tied him up...bhishma was wall because he can repel any attack and tank the ones that may get landed smhow
English

@drinkllethe wall means attrition by definition. If there is a warrior you cannot kill he will stalemate you keeping the main warriors busy in trying to defeat him (they were holding back trying not to kill) while the other enemy warriors keep killing your soldiers
English

@AesirResurgent Even greatest archer of the age needed shikhandi's help to defeat a serious bhishma but ok .
English

@AesirResurgent krishna's pov holds more weight than any interpretation+ In an epic, boons and divine weapons are not jus "cheats" they are part of the character's power set. You cannot separate Bhishma's skill from his boon because his mastery of weapons is what allowed him to utilize that boon
English

@AesirResurgent Avoiding a fight due to a moral vow is fundamentally different from avoiding it due to fear. also in the general narrative, the stalemate with parshuram serves to establish Bhishma as the pinnacle of martial skill.
English

@AesirResurgent Bhishma didn't need to "hunt" specific kings to prove his power; his mere presence on the field made him invincible.+there is no textual evidence that Bhishma, a master of the highest celestial weapons, was "scared" of him in a combat sense.
