@TanviKaranvibe There’s no substitute for real conversation and engagement between voters and elected representatives.
English

@drjakesmith Seeing so many people engage face to face reminds me how important real conversations are. do you think community events like this make the biggest difference in politics?

@sootytweet The current KDC council has denied all Kaipara voters a chance at referendum at this election - the only council to deny its people their voice. We’d all be better for knowing what everyone thinks now … not just a few. That evidence could’ve been used for affirmative decision.

You haven't answered my question around whether you would try and bring back separatist maori representation. A simple yes or no
Dr Jake Smith@drjakesmith
@Infideliter2022 @sootytweet Council should focus on delivering core services and infrastructure efficiently and effectively, keeping rates low while maintaining growth for tmrw. With elected members who seek to serve others and don’t have fingers in the pie.
English

@sootytweet @NzFubar @Infideliter2022 Ummm … i repeated back your exact words from your first msg … and the logic truth that comes out of that.
English

@NzFubar @drjakesmith @Infideliter2022 But that is a one sided statement - beneficial for Maori, but not for all. Council should treat all equally, thankfully sanity prevailed under the current mayor and they got rid of them.
English

Jason Smith kaipara mayoral hopefuls, when mayor 2020 agreed maori wards beneficial for maori. Our present council voted not to have them, sky didn't fall in. So Dr Smith what are your thoughts now. No vote from me if you want to bring them back. @Infideliter2022 @drjakesmith
English

@Infideliter2022 @sootytweet Councils should do few things really well, not a lot of things less well.
English

@drjakesmith @sootytweet Coun ils should do a lot of things.
We are promised much in the lead up to elections, but seldom are those promises carried through.
Racial favoritism has no place in politics.

English

@sootytweet @drjakesmith Council should worry about places not races.
To try and justify special treatment/representation because of race used to be called apartheid and it was rightly frowned upon. Now we have all these wokey dokey apologists with conveniently short memories, apartheid seems acceptable?

Hey @nzherald - Dargaville is NOT in the Far North. It’s the largest town in Kaipara District, not in Far North District. Pls correct the story!

@JKruppster @NewsroomNZ I’ve always been opposed to 3W for its grave flaws for NZ society. Having served on Govt Working Group illuminated many dark aspects about what the policy really meant.
Money/affordability aspects are clever smokescreen for what was really going on in laws to be cancelled soon.
English

@drjakesmith @NewsroomNZ As I recall you were all “boohoo Kaipara can’t pay for water” and now you’re the champion for bankruptcy. Wow, guess those Joe Rogan podcasts are really working

The Government plans to repeal Labour's Three Waters laws by the end of next week, and is setting up an advisory group ahead of passing two replacement pieces of legislation. #Echobox=1707711623-1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">newsroom.co.nz/2024/02/12/gov…

@NewshubPolitics Excellent news. This time the solution can’t be allowed to include the seeds of future civil war, as the last model most certainly did.
