Next we got some Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images of the inside of one of the tar balls. This shows a highly heterogeneous mixture. Possibly the white bits are sand and shells?

Concrete can be made 29% stronger by incorporating used coffee grounds. Finding ways to recycle the 18 million tonnes of coffee grounds produced each year is important to keep them out of landfill, where they release the potent greenhouse gas methane. newscientist.com/article/238857…
