I can’t envision the Cowboys promoting anyone from a coaching staff that just finished with the worst season in franchise history and allowed most points in the league. Not even Jerry can sell that to the fanbase.

@WerderEdNFL 💯 Whitecotton didn't exactly set things on fire with the DL. Inability to rush the passer was one of the primary issues with this defense. Certainly one of many, but it starts there.

I would be surprised if the Cowboys promote Whitecotton based on their one year with him coaching defensive line that underperformed - especially the defensive end group that they overestimated. Seems they want someone from another team to me.

The Cowboys will interview Aaron Whitecotton for their vacant DC position, sources tell @NFLonCBS. Whitecotton, currently Dallas’s DL coach, was previously with the Jets and 49ers under Robert Saleh. A name to watch in the defensive coordinator cycle.
