I have received a great Christmas present ... My first journal article has been published in Interpreting and Society! It is a rewrite of my MSc dissertation on how hearing people feel about working with sign language interpreters in the workplace. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/27…

Boundaries are a frequent topic of discussion in supervision sessions and I am a huge fan of saying a clear 'no'. Overexplaining or justifying opens the door for people to try and change your mind.
Dr Hayley Lewis@Haypsych

I have very clear #boundaries for different parts of my life and I'm completely unapologetic about this. I think this is why I often get asked how I go about this. I thought I'd share 6 boundaries I think it's important to have at work along with 4 of my top tips #WorkLifeBalance

@DarrenNeilAdams Darren, you have used Labyrinth Supervision's website wording to advertise your professional supervision services. Please take it down immediately and create your own content. You should have more integrity.

All this talk of the GOAT athletes is triggering the horrific memory of when I spent 15 minutes trying to work out why the hearing person was talking about goats and using the sign for 🐐 to a very confused deaf student 🫠 We've all been there, what's been your worst mis-hear?

@FionaBowler Inka the Tinker. Vet confirmed he is chipped. Owner is 10 doors up the road but Inka likes life at mine. Also blags the entire street for food, including a great 'I've got a poorly paw' routine (he hasn't).

@NicolaFA @BSLterplife @NRCPD Whilst it will be great to see continued growth of Professional Supervisors from the interpreter/translator/lipspeaker ranks, individuals can choose a supervisor from outwith their profession, e.g., engage someone from the counselling field.

Here's an unsolicited idea: Make professional supervision (6 x a year) mandatory, introduce twice yearly in-work observations from qualified assessors for *all* registrants, and reduce general CPD requirements to 12 points per year. What do you think, @NRCPD?

Just because you can fill your work diary doesn't mean you have to. Set aside some time for yourself and honour it.

@DeafMatters @drjulesd1 @ASLIuk I will email Dr Jules and see if I can gakk a copy as I was very much thinking of the professional training Terps/STTRs/ENTs/Lipspeakers have and apply and how lower-paid/trained support workers don't have those ethics BANGED into them as well.

Do any of you lot know of any guidance for disabled people working with support workers and how to set and hold expectations, boundaries, things like "don't talk for me" "don't chat to my clients/colleagues" kinds of things. Cos if not I may have to write such a thing myself.
