People think interviews are only about getting the job. They are also one of the most powerful places to meet the people who shape your future.
I was in New York City this week and had the chance to reconnect with my mentee Michael, someone I first met during his interview process for a role on my team. What stood out that day was not the position we were discussing. It was the conversation. The curiosity. The thoughtfulness. The way he explored ideas.
From that one meeting, a mentorship grew. And mentorship turned into peership and genuine friendship. We talk through challenges, big decisions, career pivots, and the kind of leadership questions that shape who you become.
Here is what that reminded me of:
1.Interviews are more than assessments. They are introductions.
2.A role may or may not align, but the relationship you build can become one of your greatest assets.
3.Some of the most meaningful professional connections begin in moments when you are simply showing who you are.
I encourage every leader and every candidate to approach interviews with openness. Be curious. Be yourself. Be willing to see possibility beyond the role on the table. The conversation you have today may become the connection that guides you for years to come.
Michael, I am grateful for your trust and for the opportunity to grow and learn together. Mentorship works when both people rise, and that has been true for us.

Nothing prepares you for the moment you walk into Gotham Hall NYC and see your face projected on the wall alongside exceptional leaders from around the world.
That was my experience at the Black Stars Award event, and I am still taking it all in. It was an honor, extravagant in the best way, and honestly overwhelming to stand in a room recognizing leaders who are shaping culture, advancing innovation, and driving real change in their fields.
The Black Stars Award celebrates individuals whose work has pushed boundaries, amplified community, and demonstrated excellence with impact. It honors people who are not just doing their jobs, but shifting the world a little more toward progress, possibility, and representation. To see my work included in that vision meant more than words can capture.
The artistry, the storytelling, the music, the way every honoree’s contributions were elevated with intention. It was more than an award ceremony. It felt like a reminder that our stories matter. Our voices matter. Our impact matters.
Here are three reflections I carried home from the evening:
1.Representation is not symbolic. It is direction. When people see what is possible, they walk toward it with more confidence.
2.Excellence grows stronger when it is witnessed. Community amplifies our work in ways we cannot do alone.
3.Legacy is built choice by choice. No single moment defines you, but moments like this remind you why the work is worth it.
I am grateful. I am proud. And I am more committed than ever to using my platform to open doors for others.
Thank you to the BlackStars Experience for shining a light on our stories with so much care. Thank you T-Mobile for the opportunity to serve students, educators and communities through innovative technology and mission driven strategy. I’m honored.

Leaders are not defined by the title they hold. They are defined by the transformation they create.
Every time I sit with someone who is shaping the future of education, technology, policy, or workforce development, I walk away reminded of how much impact becomes possible when people lead with purpose instead of position.
Here are three actions that help any professional step into transformational leadership:
1.Ask better questions. The quality of your questions shapes the quality of your influence.
2.Study the ripple effect. Track how your work impacts teams, customers, and systems beyond your immediate role.
3.Build one level up. Think like the leader you want to be, not the title you currently have.
The future will reward people who create meaningful outcomes, not people who simply hold impressive roles.

When you sit at the table with world class educators, innovators, and policymakers, you learn something every single time.
Being in rooms like this is never about proximity. It is about alignment. Mission alignment. Integrity alignment. Growth alignment. These moments sharpen my thinking and remind me why relationships matter more than access.
Three practical ways to elevate your own network:
1.Add value first. Reach out with insight, not need.
2.Learn people’s work before you meet them. Preparation makes conversations memorable.
3.Follow up with clarity. A simple note that says “Here is what you said that stayed with me” builds long term trust.
The right people will accelerate your growth when you show up with purpose and consistency.

Transferable Skills: The New Currency for Career Growth linkedin.com/pulse/transfer…
English

The speed of business is outpacing traditional playbooks. The leaders who win are the ones willing to rethink everything.
Technology, workplace expectations, and organizational structures are changing faster than most people can process. These conversations remind me that adaptability is not optional. It is a leadership requirement.
Three actions that help professionals stay relevant in a fast changing future:
1.Audit your skills every quarter. Identify which skills are growing in relevance and which ones need upgrading.
2.Treat curiosity like a daily habit. Read, listen, observe, ask why, and explore perspectives beyond your industry.
3.Build cross functional muscle. The future belongs to professionals who can think across departments, sectors, and ecosystems.
This is the season for bold thinkers and agile leaders, and I am grateful for every person shaping what comes next.

Ever caught yourself nodding along in a conversation while your mind was already three meetings ahead?
We all have. In a world of constant alerts, multitasking, and mental to-do lists, being fully present has quietly become one of the rarest leadership skills.
But presence is power. It builds trust, deepens relationships, and often turns an ordinary exchange into a breakthrough moment.
Here are three ways I’ve learned to stay present when distractions try to take over:
1. Ground yourself before you respond.
Take one intentional breath before speaking. It resets your focus and reminds you that listening is just as valuable as leading.
2. Protect eye contact, not your phone.
When someone is talking, put the device out of reach. The moment you break eye contact to glance at a screen, you signal that their time matters less than your notifications.
3. Listen for emotion, not just information.
The best conversations happen when you hear what’s not being said. Pay attention to tone, pace, and energy. It will tell you more than the words ever could.
Presence is the simplest way to honor another person, and the most underestimated strategy for building credibility and connection.

Some conversations just don’t happen on screen.
There is something about being in the same room, sharing space, ideas, and energy, that no virtual meeting can replace.
Working alongside peers from across T-Mobile reminded me that collaboration is more than coordination. It is creativity. It is connection. It is the spark that happens when someone’s passing comment turns into your next big idea.
We often talk about efficiency, but innovation requires proximity. Being in person gives us the time to read the room, challenge ideas in real time, and walk away with shared ownership of outcomes.
Here are three truths that continue to guide how I think about teamwork and leadership:
1. Collaboration builds momentum. Ideas move faster when people can react, refine, and build together.
2. Culture is built through presence. Trust grows in eye contact, laughter, and the moments between meetings.
3. Alignment happens best in real time. When everyone is focused on the same table, direction becomes clearer.
Being together is not about going back to old ways of working. It is about moving forward with renewed purpose and connection. Because great work happens through people, with people, and for people.
Thank you to the incredible teams that keep showing up ready to collaborate, create, and lead with heart.

@"Business Modernization in the Age of AI: How Leaders Move Now"linkedin.com/pulse/business… on @LinkedIn
English

Gratitude. Legacy. Momentum.
As the AfroTech Conference kicks off, I’m honored to share that I’ve been named to the AfroTech Future 50 — a recognition that celebrates innovators shaping the future of technology, business, and culture.
To be included among such visionary leaders at the intersection of tech, equity, and innovation is humbling. What I love most about AfroTech is that it’s more than a conference. It’s a movement — a space where ideas meet action, where culture meets code, and where Black excellence sets the standard for what’s next.
For me, this recognition is a reminder that representation and responsibility go hand in hand. We are not just part of the future of tech; we are building it — through education, access, and innovation that opens doors for the next generation.
To everyone attending AfroTech this year, keep pushing boundaries, connecting authentically, and creating impact that lasts. The work you do matters.
Thank you to @Blavity and the entire AfroTech team for the recognition and for creating a platform that amplifies Black brilliance on a global scale.

AI isn’t scary. But what we do with it? That’s where the responsibility starts.
We have a moment right now to shape AI with humanity, ethics, and intentional design.
Not for show. Not for status. But for actual impact.
Education. Access. Equity.
If we don’t lead here, someone else will—and they may not build with everyone in mind.
Let’s stop asking if AI will change our world.
Let’s ask who it will leave behind if we don’t lead with purpose.

English

Let’s be honest—change is uncomfortable.
Even the good kind.
Especially the kind that pushes you past what’s familiar.
But progress has never come from staying where we are.
In business, in education, in leadership—the real growth comes from the stretch.
The best teams I’ve worked with aren’t afraid to pivot. They’re afraid of standing still.
Let’s stop resisting what could make us better.
What’s a change you’re leaning into right now?

I’ve seen firsthand what happens when students go from “no signal” to fully connected.
Grades change. Confidence grows. Futures shift.
Connectivity isn’t a luxury. It’s a launchpad.
When we connect people, we’re not just plugging them into devices—we’re plugging them into possibility.
This is what the digital divide really costs: potential.
And I’m not interested in leaving anyone behind.

Let’s stop treating tech as an accessory in education.
It’s not optional. It’s the foundation.
Just like we wouldn’t hand a student a textbook with half the pages missing, we can’t hand them learning tools without full access.
Equipping our students with tech means giving them a voice, a vision, and a seat at the table.
What’s the modern-day “pen” in your learning environment?
#EdTech #ModernLearning #DigitalAccess #TMobile

English

Future-proofing isn’t just about tech. It’s about people.
We can’t innovate our way past the need for a strong, skill-rich, equity-driven education system.
Students need more than diplomas. They need access, confidence, and real-world application.
Let’s stop preparing students for yesterday. Let’s build them for what’s next.
#EducationLeadership #FutureReady #EquityInAction #TMobile

English

I’ve toured campuses with the latest tech—from AI-powered security to smart dorms—but the ones that stay with me are the ones where students feel like they belong.
Smart campuses don’t start with hardware. They start with heart.
And the best ones? They use technology to remove friction from learning, simplify access to resources, and make student well-being the priority.
Innovation should never feel intimidating. It should feel like support.
How is your campus building for the whole student experience?
#SmartCampuses #StudentSuccess #HigherEdInnovation #TMobile

Preparedness isn’t fear-based. It’s leadership in motion.
Every parent, student, and educator deserves to feel safe—and that kind of safety doesn’t happen by accident. It takes planning, collaboration, and the right tools in the right hands.
Technology alone isn’t the solution. But without it? We’re leaving critical gaps in visibility, communication, and response.
The smartest school safety strategies are human-centered, equity-driven, and tech-enabled.
Let’s stay focused on solutions that protect and empower.
#SchoolSafety #Preparedness #SmartTech #EquityInAction #TMobile

This one hit me deeply.
Inclusion isn’t about letting people in—it’s about removing the barriers that kept them out in the first place.
Whether it’s tech, access, opportunity, or leadership seats… we have to stop treating equity like a side program.
It should be the blueprint.
The standard.
The expectation.
At events like AfroTech, I’m reminded that innovation and inclusion aren’t in conflict—they power each other.
Let’s keep building doors—and holding them open with purpose.
