@notgaetti Agreed - making contact mattered a lot back then, and he was one of the better ones at it. If he wasn't the sole power threat (except for a couple seasons of Reggie Smith) for the 70s Cardinals, he might be better known. One of the "stealth" HOFers, inducted in 2020.

@drmccue66 One of the other things about Ted Simmons that will make your jaw drop is his strikeout totals. He was a strikeout-avoidance guy unlike anything you could ever see today. Almost Yogi Berra-like.

These are very short lists, folks. We really need to reframe the way we think about catcher excellence.
Jorge Posada deserves Cooperstown.

@ATRightMovies When I saw it, "No Way Out" floored me. Maybe because you can only get "got" once, it doesn't hold up as mind-blowing, but that first time . . . wow.
English

@AugieNash You just know that Bob Johnson thought twice before throwing behind somebody again.
English

@ATRightMovies I sort of get Inception but there's some mind bending stuff in there and I've only seen it once.

@HoernerMVP Every outfielder will tell you that the hardest ball to read is a line drive smoked right at you where you have to judge going back or in, than this is also SF where there’s wind all the time this isn’t a 99% catch, stat cast system has several limitations and flaws
English

It’s crazy that now that catch probability is becoming more mainstream, we see that a lot of these crazy acrobatic catches are due to bad jumps/routes

@f1chef1 @notgaetti One of the "glue guys" of those Royals teams. While I hated the Cardinals losing in '85 (and the way they lost it - both Denkinger's call and their lousy game 7), I was happy for long time KC guys like Brett, McRae, and White.

@mattxserenity @courtneyknill Did that last October and experienced exactly half of that - 3 people, $100 plus $20 tip.
English

@courtneyknill Took my daughter and her family out to lunch at Cheesecake Factory. Six of us was $200 plus $40 tip. Ouch 😣
English

@courtneyknill I hope it was a nice brunch. I took my daughter last Easter and it was a little over $40 (2 entrees plus tax and tip). For a buffet, you're going to pay more and presumably have more variety.

@AugieNash Favorite Cardinals trade of my lifetime. Trading for Holliday, Walker, Arenado may have been "better" trades, but I loved loved loved this trade when they made it. Sold high on Bottenfield and got 7 years of CF and hitting greatness.

@wischlist 13, 7, 3, and 1 - I have Arizona over Florida in the championship game. Missed on Iowa, Nebraska, and Texas.

@T3Bracketology I can't deny I was looking for the Chief, but respect to you for knowing the University's "official" logo at the time.
