Living in a van has taught me that the average person has no idea what they are capable of in terms of adjusting to "uncomfortable" conditions. For example, sleeping in a car/van. The gargantuan societal myth that you MUST enslave yourself to a Draconian rental contract in order to be a responsible member of society was soundly defeated by just a few weeks of discomfort and consistency.
