@drsgrier @bennoivory @elfyn_thomas As the consultant on call I just need to know if you as a trainee are phoning me for advice or for me to come in, that is what I was taught a long while back, that’s it.

@bennoivory @elfyn_thomas Agree entirely. I say to trainees: ‘consultants are paid to be on call, we’re paid to be bothered, if you’re at all worried, need advice or are uncertain, call me - that’s what I’m there for. And if I can’t help over the phone I’ll come in.’

@doctorhelgi @gaslad @Mossbourne6th Reassuringly I absolutely love my job….if you feel truely passionate about becoming a doctor and wanting to help others this will come through during an interview. In order to deliver good pt care you have to care about them. I was lucky enough to meet inspiring role models too

That’s fine, understood. But can you let other people (like me) keep some of my positivity and allow us to encourage others into medicine? The vast majority of my trainee and consultant colleagues fundamentally love their job so I’m not in a massive minority. What are you personally doing to improve the lot of doctors? (Negative posts on here don’t count)… happy to take this arguments into DMs if there’s stuff you don’t want to talk about here.

Another remarkable year for @RetrieveSW and Adult Critical Care Transfer Services. I am really proud of what our team have achieved and how we've helped change the landscape in the South West. Lots more to do and to come in the next year including 24/7 operating.

A difficult story to read ⤵️ Intensive Care is an incredibly rewarding but sometimes gruelling specialty even in ‘normal’ times. The psychological impact of the pandemic on health care professionals must not be underestimated @ICS_updates @SteveBarclay thetimes.co.uk/article/82cd71…

It's with great sadness that we learned this week of the passing of our project lead Prof Amber Young. Amber was a remarkable, passionate and kind person who never stopped working to improve burns care for patients and survivors all over the world. We will miss her immensely.
