@StuartBlitz They are the GE of healthcare evidently, buying up a bunch of separate businesses and running as an umbrella org

@rikrenard I would argue the “digital front door” should be more consumer oriented vs “owned” by the health system. Sure … they need a door … but it should be built for those walking in not for the walls around the door! #consumerhealth

They then want to use SPI to build the digital experience (aka pathways, programs with partners, etc) the big idea here is that the digital front door to care (yes, buzzword sorry) should NOT be owned by MyChart but should be owned by the health system i agree 100%

Today Providence launched Praia Health While their marketing is fluff (see screenshot, no idea what they do) in the press release, they do explain their vision very well on their website. my analysis below 👇

@realdocspeaks What would that look like? It would be interesting to see something more episodic based vs individual actions … not to similar hip/knee replacements + 90 days post

There is no good reason for upcoding, down coding or coding at all. Coding is very subjective and you can be in trouble with CMS for down coding or upcoding. It is another system that is complex and waste tremendous time for physicians. Of course it is the major source of revenue for the AMA. There are winning and losing specialties with coding and women’s services are valued at a very low reimbursement rate. Time to end coding and have a physician driven replacement.

@dvasishtha Sad to hear especially with how much #HealthIT and #Interoperability investment over the past decade. The increasing drive for health system consolidation is NOT making this better (seems consolidation should make care management across venues better) but simply driving up price

My dad fractured his hip three weeks ago and after a successful surgery, my family and I got to personally experience the hospital to rehab to home care transition. My biggest takeaway is how a MD, LCSW, and their health tech son barely managed to coordinate care successfully.

3/ As during COVIDs disruption of FFS payments, practices who have embraced alternative payments models have an important diversification during these times. Those who partner with @AledadeACO get support beyond just money. We have their back. Here's what we are doing:

@StuartBlitz What is crazy is that this was considered the best of the major EMRs in the space over the past 5 years. Increasingly they have no incentive to improve UX and architecturally probably near impossible!

Look how bad this UX is?! Surely someone can simply hire a killer designer and make a much more beautiful product to replace it?

@rikrenard “HIPAA Compliant” is the most BS answer:) … anyone can walk by the fax machine and pick up/review patient records sent … we all know these machines are NOT set up in some type of Fort Knox security arrangement either!

Was talking to a CIO and asked him why they’re still using fax: “it costs us peanuts, everyone knows how to use it (no change mgmt) and it’s HIPAA compliant; why would we switch?” never underestimate ease of use + change mgmt
