Dear #AAEEBL23 colleagues, may I apologise in advance for my legs! I’m going to be in shorts for the foreseeable. The perils of a very tall man unfolding out of a very small Uber were revealed today. Indeed rather too revealed!

It finally happened: my beloved ebike was stolen yesterday. Street hazard warrior. Congestion beater. Not-so-secret bionic superpower. So grateful to @juleezworld @familyride for mobilizing a loaner for me so quickly. Ebiking 💯 makes my work/schedule/life possible.

@rdietkus @lauranissen @AmeriCorps @RedCross I second this. I volunteered with the Red Cross as a mental health professional for years. They do great disaster training. The reality is that it is the helpers that actually need assistance more than the victims in the disasters. We need to think about this too.

I'm just gonna say it - disaster training should be a required part of all social work education. Students today will be working 30-40 years in the future. Ya think ANY of them will NOT be experiencing more (and more dramatic) disasters in the years to come? #SWfutures

@CeciliaOrphan all the universities have their own boards now and are loosely governed by the HECC. It is the wild west in Portland in higher ed. Those out of state students want to be in Portland and go to the football games!

@CeciliaOrphan Guilt--survivor guilt. How did I get out when others couldn't. And loneliness. I still feel like I don't belong anywhere or belong to any group.

Here’s the chance that a kid born in the bottom 20% of the income distribution eventually reaches the top 20%, depending on where they live. Stark geographic differences & the lowest mobility areas in the US are worse than any other developed country. inequality.stanford.edu/sites/default/…

NPR Ed is looking at how the Pell Grant program shaped college. We'll be sharing your #Pellat50 stories throughout the month -- like this one from Candyce Reynolds. She was one of the earliest recipients in 1975 when it was called the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant.
