@PaulTreyvaud The amount of emails I’m getting from Irish hotels offering ‘last minute special deals’ now is crazy. They’ve been charging way too much for the staycation trade, not getting the bookings, and are now scrambling. Greed.

Rural Ireland is in serious trouble. This tourist season is way down even if some idiots are trying to say otherwise because they think it’s better to lie than tell the truth It’s all down to the lack of accommodation. Any tourist towns that didn’t give away their room are thriving and those that did have killed the high street. 2 businesses I know have told me they’re closing up end of October as they just can’t make ends meet any more. My own opinion is that it will be a shitstorm this winter with many businesses going wallop and this useless excuse of a government couldn’t care less. They’re too preoccupied trying to pass laws that no one wants The only reason I’m saying this is because I don’t want anyone saying why did no one warn whats coming and I’d only love to be wrong. A lot of businesses hung on last year because the warehoused tax was pushed down till 2024. That debt should be written off. It’s going to get very messy this winter and expect a lot of carnage. Like I said though, I hope to god I’m wrong.

The brilliant designer of our set for @rte masses & services, Catherine Sorg, knew how strongly Irish spirituality is rooted in our landscape, and built a virtual church for all in a clearing in a wood. Catherine died this week, way too young, but her vision & work live on. RIP.
