Watching the SUNY Committee on Charter Schools meeting and Cap Prep Harlem is up. A long time ago when Dr. Steve Perry was considering opening his first school in CT, I met with him regularly. During that time, my dad’s illness landed him in the hospital and I had to go to Nevada to be with my family. Walking the hallways of the hospital on my first day, my phone rang and it was Dr. Perry. I immediately answered, worried there was a problem with the application. He said, “No. I’m not calling about work. I want to make sure you’re okay.” He called every day without fail until I got back home. He never talked about work. Happy for him and his team! @DrStevePerry

The U.S. is in an education arms race that we have lost bc we see education as a public employment strategy. What American public schools do well is guarantee jobs. The teacher talent shortage is beyond a crisis that threatens every aspect of America's future.
